Going into the day without beginning with energy packed foods in the morning is a sure way to come crashing down when you need energy the most, which is later in the day. Unfortunately, the more tired you feel later in the day, the more likely you are to try a quick soda, candy bar, or coffee fix. This will give you a lift for a few minutes, before leaving you feeling even more flat than before. However, by starting the morning off right, you will have a good energy source to draw on as you get later into the day.
Some of the best foods to begin the day with include, peanut butter, bananas, egg whites, and whole grains. The protein from the peanut butter and egg whites is going to feed your mind and give you mental clarity. The potassium from the banana is going to fill your energy stores, and the whole grains are a necessary fiber and good source of carbohydrates, which are the same thing as energy. By starting your day in this manner you can build upon it later on by snacking on other healthy alternatives to junk, such as almonds, fresh fruit, or carrots. This is akin to stoking a well-built fire, and keeping it burning all through the day. Later on, for lunch you can pack in more protein with tuna, or a chicken breast. These will help keep your brain active, rather than feeling sleepy. When the brain begins to feel sleepy, it tells your body that it needs a quick-fix, like sugar, or caffeine.
By starting the morning right, you have put both your mind and your body on a clear path for success. You will be able to keep them working by adding the proper nutrients as you go through the day. However, starting the day without energy packed foods in the morning is like trying to run before you know how to walk.
