The most potent source of Vitamin D is the sun.
Although to be more accurate, it is the action of the sun’s energy on melanin in human skin actually produces the Vitamin D.

Of particular concern, however, is the recent trend to minimize UV exposure in a bid to lower skin cancer rates.

So successful has been the skin cancer awareness campaign, that depleted levels of this essential vitamin have now been linked to an array of seemingly unrelated health problems.
